Maxied out with Vesa India
While maxi skirts and dresses have floated in and out of fashion, the maxi top definitely can’t be traced as far back. Taking inspiration from the Indian salwar kameez, but more shapely, this garment is here to turn heads.
“What is that? It’s amazing!” asks my man, when I send him a selfie in Vesa India’s white high-slit top.
So, here’s hoping the maxi top is here to stay. 😉 Meanwhile, here’s a more detailed review of the white maxi top by Vesa India, whose edgy designs I’ve previously featured on the blog.. Coincidentally, they were also featured on BuzzFeed‘s “Super Fashionable But Underrated Places To Shop Online in India” yesterday, and I couldn’t agree more!
The Fit: The key to finding a maxi top that fits well is that it must complement your curves and not hang loosely on-top, otherwise it’ll end up looking like a big sack.
The Fabric: While most mainstream brands are making maxi tops from cotton, Vesa uses a cotton-lycra blend, which gives a slightly more formal finish than the plain t-shirt material. It’s also extremely comfortable to wear. There are also georgette maxi tops that give a more sheer look.
Styling: The maxi top is extremely versatile when it comes to styling. Here are three of my favourite looks in Vesa India’s white high-slit top.
The Day Look:
Paired with shorts, the maxi top makes for a stylish day outfit that’s perfect for the beach. That’s exactly why I decided to break out this top on my recent trip to Sri Lanka. The outfit stands out against the natural backdrop of Bentota’s greenery.
The Pool Look:
The maxi top makes for an extremely stylish swimwear cover, since it has high slits. The fabric is also thin enough that it’ll dry quickly if you choose to wear it on a damp swimsuit, and perfect if you just want to relax by the poolside and protect your skin.
The Brunch Look:
Vesa’s white maxi top paired with jeans or jeggings is an ideal brunch outfit. Jeans that are slightly high-waist will work best since the slits will expose your sides, and you don’t want your love handles popping out 😛
This look can be styled with some basic jewellery and/or colourful accessories. I’ve worn a simple gold handcuff and my all-time favourite India Circus tote to add a bohemian vibe. For a more chic vibe, you can style this look with wedges, and a quirky clutch. Here, I’ve paired it with nude wedges and one of my favourite Tarini Nirula bags.
